SSFAAC was established to advise the Chancellor, the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor
through the Vice Chancellor Student Affairs, on the level and use of Registration Fees.

Welcome to SSFAAC!

I'm so glad you are able to visit.  This website has been a sporadic thing that I'm trying to reinvigorate.  As part of my goal to promote the visibility of SSFAAC as a campus resource, I've updated the entire website and made some changes, including a brand new section that allows you to access some of the reports SSFAAC has produced over the past three years.  I hope you'll take the time to read about some of the important things SSFAAC has been working on.

As you may know, SSFAAC is the only student-run committee mandated by The Regents of the University of California and serves as the primary agency for channeling student input into decisions regarding the level and use of Registration Fees.  The Registration Fee is a charge made to each registered student for services that are necessary to students, but not part of the University's programs of instruction, research, or public service.  Included in these services are activities such as counseling, academic advising, tutorial assistance, cultural and recreational programs, and capital improvements that provide extracurricular benefits for students.

SSFAAC advises the Chancellor, the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor, through the Vice Chancellor Student Affairs, who is authorized by The Regents of the University of California to determine specific allocations of Registration Fee income for the campus, within appropriate University policies and guidelines.  SSFAAC works in coalition with the UC Council on Student Fees.

Recently, SSFAAC has expanded its purview to also serve as the oversight body for the use of the Facilities and Campus Enhancements (FACE) Initiative fund and the Campus Expansion Initiative (CEI) fund.  The FACE Initiative fund includes money for the ARC, the SRRC, the Schaals Aquatics Center, the Multi-use Stadium, the Pavilion (formerly known as the Rec. Hall), the Equestrian Center, and Financial Aid grant funds.  The CEI fund includes money for Division I grants in aid, the Coffee House expansion, Unitrans, Intramurals and Sport Clubs, the Student Resource Center, the Student Health Center, and Financial Aid grant funds.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or need further information.

Regards,

Co-Chair, SSFAAC

notice OF Meeting

A Meeting of the Student Services & Fees Administrative Advisory Committee (SSFAAC) will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2007 from 3:00-4:30 p.m. in 61 Mrak Hall.

Be sure to send us your inputs before the next meeting.

After all, we are your representatives.  Make sure we represent you.

Announcements

Members of the Student Affairs Mental Health Workgroup (Dr. Famula - CSHC, Emil Rodolfa - CAPS, Robin Whitmore - WRRC, and Nancy Flagg - VCSA Office) will be present on May 10 to discuss their recommendations on how budgetary resources from registration fees should be used to advance UC Davis' implementation of the mental health plan.  Handouts for the meeting are available online through the password restricted area.  Please review them before the meeting and come with questions.

You can get involved

Recruitment for SSFAAC takes place during Winter Quarter.  However, applications are accepted throughout the year.  If you are interesting in applying to serve after the deadline, contact us to see if there are any vacancies on the Committee.

SSFAAC members are appointed by the Vice Chancellor Student Affairs and serve a one-year term beginning Fall Quarter, continuing through Spring Quarter.

SSFAAC is composed of the following voting members:  six undergraduate students, three graduate/professional students, one staff representative and two academic members (one from the Academic Senate and one from the Academic Federation).  Applicants may not have a vested interest in programs financed from University Registration Fees.  Due to the nature of this committee, it is highly recommended, although not required, that students be willing to serve for at least two years.  SSFAAC generally meets every 2 weeks on Thursdays between 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., unless otherwise warranted to fulfill its charge.  Applications are available on the Chancellor's website.

Greetings from Judy Sakaki, the Vice Chancellor Student Affairs

Hello. I’m Judy Sakaki, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. The fees that you pay to attend UC Davis include Registration and other campus-based fees.  These fees fund student services and facilities and you have a voice in how the funds are spent. Through SSFAAC, your opinions can be heard and channeled into recommendations that come directly to me.  I use your recommendations to make decisions about support services for students. What services are important to you?  How would you allocate budget reductions or increases among different student programs and services?  Where could improvements be made? You can make a difference on our campus by sharing your opinions with SSFAAC or by becoming a member of SSFAAC.  I hope you will find more useful information about the Committee on this website.
